Joy Blog

Joy is something that I actively search for as I move through my day. During my daily walk, I often practice being in the moment, smelling the fragrances in the air, noticing the clouds, watching for animals, listening for the birds or feeling the breeze that blows through the field.
Today the air was muggy and thick although a small breeze rustled the foliage around me. As I approached the grove of trees it was cooler and I felt the joy of being hidden from the pounding sun. It was refreshing and I stood for awhile under the shade, breathing in the cooler air. Often Marnie had rested in the grass under the huge limbs, catching her breath after her run in the park. Today I joined her in being thankful for the coolness and resting for a moment.
I realized that people are like trees and that some offer shade from the heat of life. I remembered people in my life that offered covering and protection and a place of rest when life was scorching, I was thankful for places of refuge where I was safe and able to breathe in deeply, where my spirit could smile and the presence of the Lord was close.
Write a note of appreciation or journal about those persons in your life that have been a refuge, a place of refreshing for your spirit and a place of safety in difficult times. Thank the Lord that He has provided these trees in your life that have led you to the river of life.
” Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:1-3
